Safe Digging Hydrovac

Hydrovac Excavation work requires “safe digging” practices. Our technology redefines safety expectations when performing critical and sensitive hydrovac excavation work. Unlike conventional methods, this process allows us to safely deal with known and unknown subsurface infrastructures.

Hydrovac Technology

Operators can manipulate 2 or 3 flex hoses at the same time by remote, and our track-lancing equipment offers the same safety and precision for 12K, 20K, and 40K applications. Our automated technology also allows for remote shotgunning and pipe cleaning with rotary jetting tools.

Pneumatic (Dry) Vacuum Excavation

Thompson Industrial Services offer a safe and effective ‘dry’ vacuum excavation process using a custom-designed air system to dislodge and facilitate the matrix to free-flow via the vacuuming process.

Hydro Vacuum Excavation

The hydro-excavation method utilizes relatively low flow, high pressure water to accomplish the dislodging and size the matrix to facilitate simultaneous vacuuming operations. Although this hydrovac excavation process is faster than dry excavation in terms of cubic-yards-removed production rate, other site factors may warrant the dry, pneumatic method.

A safe and effective ‘dry’ vacuum excavation process.

Optimizes precision perimeters of the excavated area

Minimizes shoring and disposal handing problems due to excess free water or muddy conditions

Ideal when hydro-excavation concerns are present (slippery or slick surfaces; soil erosion/soil instability/under-mining concerns, housekeeping issues, freezing or icing conditions, conductivity hazards, etc.)

Eliminate the risk of disastrous subsurface utility damage

Vacuum-collected excavation materials (i.e., soils/debris) are drier and may be readily used for immediate backfilling or stockpiling for other uses

Identify subsurface utilities and infrastructures frequently missed by pre-surveying detection equipment

Exceptionally high CFM and 28 inch vacuum with custom equipment

 Hydrovac Excavation of “no-dig” areas

 Damage-free utility locating

 Manhole exposing vacuuming

 Uncovering water-line breaks

Safely creating trenches and duct banks

Vacuuming of remote material and debris

Perfect for critical and sensitive hydrovac and pneumatic excavation work.

Case Study

A customer needed to install underground fiber optic cables for a crucial auxiliary power source. The work area was severely congested and contained sensitive utility components. Conventional hydrovac excavation methods were not an option. Worker safety and damage or disruption to critical underground utilities was of paramount concern.

We assembled the necessary tooling, equipment, and expertise to safely perform pneumatic-vacuum excavation and trenching.

The hydro-vacuum excavation work was performed safely and efficiently. Not a single underground utility component was disrupted, and there were no safety-related issues with this process.
