Our Hiring Process

Thompson's hiring process is an important part of our culture. We know hiring processes can seem overwhelming, but we do not want you to feel overwhelmed at Thompson!

Step one

You found us! We hope you have taken some time to focus on what you are looking for. Our goal is for you to feel like you know us a bit better, and that you've got enough information to feel like you're applying for the right job!

Step two

Go check out what positions we have open, and apply for the one that best fits what you are looking for. If you are not sure, feel free to join our talent network!

Step three

Awesome! You were selected to complete a phone screen with one of our recruiters. During this conversation we will tell you more about Thompson and ask you some questions

Step three

WooHoo! You have been selected for an in person interview. During this interview, you will be able to meet our team, check out our office and equipment.

Step four

YAY! We are so excited to add new talent to Thompson Industrial Services. During this step, you will complete your electronic onboarding and any other required pre-employment testing. 

Step six

After you are hired, our team will schedule your training. During this time, you will learn more about safety at Thompson along with other important training!

Successful Onboarding is Key

The ability to successfully onboard new people is of great importance to us and to our culture at Thompson.

 

An efficient onboarding process means that you’ll also get to spend a lot of time together with your new colleagues, ensuring that your needs are met and your competence development at Thompson is off to a flying start.

Our Orientation Process

It is our common goal to ensure that you are getting familiarized with your new role and can be up and running in no time!

 

Step 1

Computer based training

All new employees will begin their computer based General Industry OSHA-10 hour training. This is the bedrock of one of our Core Values: Safety. After completing the course, every employee has earned their OSHA-10 card and it is theirs to keep.

 

Step 2

Computer based training

After completing their OSHA-10 hour course, employees will move on to Thompson Company specific and site specific Computer Based Training or they will begin their “Hands on Training”

Step 3

Hands on Training

All new employees are given a chance to learn about the equipment the Thompson uses to and how it is used. Hands on training is led by a team of industry professionals and conducted in a safe, controlled environment. New employees will be exposed to the sights and sounds of a Vacuum Truck and a Waterblaster. They will put their hands on the tools of the trade and begin to learn some of the techniques that they will eventually master.
