Challenging Boiler Tube Cleaning Problems Can be Solved

At Thompson Industrial Services, much of our work is done at large plants and other sizable facilities. However, even smaller institutions sometimes find themselves up against a difficult—and potentially extremely costly—cleaning job. Our specialized boiler tube cleaning equipment is able to work in these situations as well, surprising managers who had no idea their debris buildup problems could be solved so quickly and at such lower costs than originally expected. Cost-Cutting Backfires Many established colleges around the country still burn oil for heat. While this heating process is a bit nostalgic and used to be very cost-effective, rising oil prices have put school officials in a difficult position. One university in Virginia decided to try burning cheaper oil to save money—waste oil, in fact, which they were able to obtain at far lower costs than the standard fuel. Eventually, the low quality of the waste oil created huge problems in the form of a thick, hard layer of residue coating the exterior of the boiler tubes. At a Loss for a Solution The boiler tube cleaning plan that the university had received from their consultant was expensive, time-intensive, and highly undesirable. Fortunately, the experts at Thompson Industrial Services got involved in the conversation and showed that their robotic equipment could provide a solution that seemed too good to be true. Just 24 hours after the boiler tube cleaning process began, the debris had been removed and the tubes were as good as new. Best of all, the bill for the job was 93% lower than that of the original plan! Our experts love seeing the look on our clients’ faces when they show them what they can do with their seemingly impossible cleaning need. If a tough debris buildup problem with boiler equipment is keeping you awake at night, give us a call and see how we can help.
